Vice President - Government Relations and Environmental Affairs

Mr. Gerald B. Faudel has been Vice President - Government Relations and Environmental Affairs since February 2000. Mr. Faudel had previously been Vice President-Safety and Environmental Affairs and had served in similar capacities since November 1993. From October 1991 through November 1993, Mr. Faudel was Director of Safety, Environmental and External Affairs of the refining subsidiaries of the Company. Mr. Faudel was employed by Frontier Oil Corporation from October 1989 through October 1991 as Director of Safety, Environmental and External Affairs. Prior to October 1989, Mr. Faudel was employed with Tosco Corporation's Avon Refinery as Manager of Hazardous Waste and Wastewater Program.

Refinery, Frontier Refining & Marketing

The El Dorado Refinery is one of the largest refineries in the Plains States and the Rocky Mountain region with an average crude oil capacity of 130,000 barrels per day.

The El Dorado Refinery can select from many different types of crude oil because of its direct access to the Cushing, Oklahoma hub, which is connected by pipelines to the Gulf Coast and to Canada. This access, combined with the El Dorado Refinery’s complexity, gives it the flexibility to refine a wide variety of crude oils. The El Dorado Refinery also has a coking unit, which allows the refinery to process a large percentage of heavy, discounted crudes.

We market El Dorado’s refined products primarily in the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountain region, which encompasses eastern Colorado (including the Denver metropolitan area) and eastern Wyoming, and throughout the Plains States. The El Dorado Refinery's product mix includes gasoline (55%), diesel and jet fuel (34%) and asphalt, chemicals and other refined petroleum products (11%).

Our Cheyenne Refinery has a permitted crude oil capacity of 52,000 barrels per day. Crude oil is purchased from local producers and also imported via the Express Pipeline from Canada.

The Cheyenne Refinery has a coking unit, which allows the refinery to process extensive amounts of heavy crude oil for use as a feedstock. The ability to process heavy crude oil lowers our raw material costs because heavy crude oil is generally less expensive than lighter types of crude oil. Historically, heavy crude oil has accounted for 85% or more of the Cheyenne Refinery's crude oil charge. We market Cheyenne’s refined products primarily in the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountain region, which encompasses eastern Colorado (including the Denver metropolitan area), eastern Wyoming, and western Nebraska (the “Eastern Slope”). The Cheyenne Refinery's product mix includes gasoline (41%), diesel fuel (30%), and asphalt and other refined petroleum products (29%).

He has worked for Frontier and its predecessor companies for over 20 years and as Treasurer of Frontier Oil Corporation since 2005. Ms. Nancy J. Zupan was named Vice President & Chief Accounting Officer in January of 2009. She had previously been Vice President - Controller since 2001. Ms. Zupan has been controller for the Company's subsidiaries since Frontier acquired the Cheyenne Refinery in 1991 and held the same position for the prior owners since 1987. Prior to 1986, Ms. Zupan had been employed by Husky Oil Company, the predecessor owner of the Cheyenne Refinery, where she began her career in Cody, Wyoming in 1977 after graduating from the University of Wyoming. A native of Wyoming, Ms. Zupan works in the Denver office of Frontier Oil Corporation.

Chairman of the Board

Mr. James R. Gibbs has been Chairman of the Board of Directors since April 1999. Mr. Gibbs retired as President & Chief Executive Officer of the Company on December 31, 2008. He joined Frontier in February 1982 and was elected a Director of the Company in 1985. He was named President & Chief Operating Officer in January 1987 and assumed the additional position of Chief Executive Officer in April 1992. Mr. Gibbs is a member of the Board of Directors of Smith International, Inc., a public oil field service company; an advisory director of Frost National Bank, Houston; and serves on the Board of Trustees of Southern Methodist University.
